Pendleton Round-Up Benefits from Pendleton Whisky
PENDLETON, Ore. -- The internationally recognized bucking horse that symbolizes the Pendleton Round-Up has been selected to epitomize smooth Canadian sipping whisky. (Editors note: the Canadian version of the drink does not utilize an "e" in its spelling.)
Pendleton Canadian Whisky is the creation of Hood River Distillers, the Northwest's oldest and largest importer and producer of distilled spirits. The 10-year-old, 80-proof, oak-barrel aged blended whisky will hit the shelves this spring. In addition to the bucking horse, the Pendleton Round-Up's "Let 'er Buck" slogan will be on the label. A portion of the proceeds from every sale will benefit the Pendleton Round-Up.
"Hood River Distillers and the Pendleton Round-Up have a combined history totaling more than 160 years in Oregon," HRD President Ron Dodge said. "This partnership celebrates this heritage and helps ensure a successful future for both of these Oregon institutions. As one of the largest and most prestigious rodeos in the West, we're proud to be associated with the Round-Up and believe Pendleton Canadian Whisky is the perfect way to commemorate this long-standing Western tradition.
Steve Corey, past Round-Up President, had this to say, "Hood River Distillers has obtained high-quality Canadian whisky and intends to market a high-end niche product. Round-Up will benefit not only from royalties on bottle sales, but from national exposure of its famous Western event. When it's your turn to order, call up a 'Pendleton.'"
