The unique Westward Ho! Parade is held Friday morning of Round-Up week. Beginning with a big bang at 10 a.m. the Westward Ho! Parade begins its trek through the town of Pendleton. Here you will see many of the Native Americans who are camped at the Round-Up grounds, dressed in their tribal finery from grandmother to the tiniest tot.
This parade is unique in that no motorized vehicles or pneumatic wheels are allowed in the line of the march. All types of early transportation are featured, including buggies, wagons and various pieces of horse drawn equipment. You will see equine of all types and sizes. There are riding groups and marching bands. The Westward Ho! Parade gives you a glimpse into the early days in the West and honors the pioneers and Native Americans, many of whose descendants are participating in the Round-Up.
The parade starts downtown near City Hall (Dorion and SW 4th) and heads down Dorion towards the Courthouse. After, the Courthouse the parade turns on SE 5th and then heads West on Court Street and ends at the Round-Up Grounds. See the map below!
